About Myself / Profession
Born and raised in Fresno, CA, life was always interesting to say the least for Don Earl Franklin. Raised by his mother

and grandmother the life of theft, drugs and sex began at an early age. Although he knew his dad, his parents were not

together and hanging with his father was not an option due to being 500 miles away. So the only role models around were

his 2 older brothers and the boys on the, “Lotus Block.” It was there life revolved around girls, drug sales, and trying

to stay out of jail.

The only thing Don knew was he had to take care of his mother who was disabled and social security checks did not pay the

bills. At the age of 14, Don was no more and Mr. D-Note was born. Introduced to rapping at the back of a school bus, hip

-hop was a past time through high school and after barely graduating music went to the backburner to slang crack rock. This

went on for 2 years trying to hustle to survive and this all came to a screeching halt. On September 5, 1995, Mr. D-Note

stumbled in after getting drunk and high the night before to find his mother dead.

Life as he knew it changed. The only thing that life previously revolved around was hustling to help mom and now that was

no more. From there life changed for Mr. D-Note as he battled severe depression and thoughts of suicide. There was one

bright spot during this time in his life as he was introduced to music again where he played the hardest west coast rap you

could find via Pirate Radio. As life saw fit he took a request from a neighborhood reverend to play Gospel Music on Sunday

mornings. He was initially hesitant to do so but, he remembered how his mom would play old school Mahalia Jackson albums

as a child so he agreed to do the show. It was here after hours of gospel music pierced the soul Mr. D-Note would never be

the same.

From there he got involved with a local ministry and on the church alter prayed for direction from God. That was where he

was given the ministry of music and film and has been going since. Mr. D-Note aka Franky-D, has released multiple

Christian Hip-Hop albums and films such as, “Lost Soul The Movie,” distributed nationally. He has also appeared on Dr.

Bobby Jones gospel and receives thousands of visits daily at his website www.frankydentertainment.com. With a Master’s

Degree in Business Administration he also consults, and speaks publicly at conferences and seminars to inspire.

Reading your story touched me, no matter what the circumstance was in your life your heart was always in the right place. I admire that. I too cared for my mother and would like to find my purpose of still being here. Im trying so hard to find that. Congratulations on turning your life around and becoming someone that other people can look up to for inspiration. God Bless.
