What's your thoughts? Times are changing. The extra revenue from taxes would be nice. Taking the distribution of this out of the hands of the bad people would also be nice. Medicial advantages? I Really don't see an increase of it's use if it was legal. what do you say?

I came from a very strict religous background and although I was always told to stay away from drugs, I feel it should be legalized. Accually it already is if you know how to get it. I use marijana to level out my mood swings which are caused by manic/depresion. As a medication I find that I can function better than if I were taking a percription drug with side afects like drooling, weight gain, and thoughts of killing myself or someone else. I got my card when they first became available. Back then I had a file 6-inches thick and had to pay 250 dollors for a one year proscription. There wasn't a despencery and you still had to find a "medical provider" on your own. Now all you need is about 120 dollors, and say you have stress,or your back hurts when you bend over, and you have a card. Once you have your card you can go to a desencery to get your medication. The price you will pay for your meds at the despencery is not cheaper than what you would pay if you were to look to the black market. Accually the black market is cheaper and despenceries will only let you purchase small amounts of marijuana at a time(less than an once). Because I am awear of this I feel marijuana is already legal for those who are smart enough to figure out, if you are too stupid to get a card you don't need to be smoking pot. Marijuana isn't the problem, it's the dummies who sit around drinking and smoking all day.
i agree, that for medical reasons it's a good thing. Had a friend that had cancer and could not hold anything down. It really helped him out and to boot he was in law enforcement. He doesn't use it anymore but for that period it helped.
I think it's great as a med. I have tried other types of meds from the doctor but found that they didn't combat the ups and downs and racing thoughts that I get with out effecting my personality and zest for life. I can understand the trepadation some may feel when the subject of marijuana legalization is brought up. There are alot of people who misuse it and give it a bad rep due to their doltish practices, but more than likely there the same ones who abuse alchol too. The number of people I have had the fortune to meet, and discuss legalization with, has shown me that alot of my neighbors do clandesttently toke. These aren't unemployed dairelicts who just watch sponge bob all day long. These are people who work, own homes, pay taxes, and just want to expirence what thomas jefferson said, "some of my finest hours have been spent sitting on my veranda, smoking hemp and observing as far as my enes can see." The government could raise taxes revenue by legalizing it and I am in agreement with that. People are going to smoke marijuana legal or not, and as Albert Einstein said,"The prestige of government has been undoutedly lowered considerably by the prohabishion law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which can not be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase in crime in this country is closly connected with this. In the past prohibishion of alchol just made organized crime that much more powerful. Legalization would stop this I believe.
When I was a kid, I did several types of drugs, always preferring Marijuana. I stopped using everything for the past 20 years. The use of "hemp" for our money, flags, clothes, etc., was the norm until some farmers (Republicans of the future?) decided they could become richer if they grew tobacco. Hence the beginning of killing your neighbor legally. People who are very much against marijuana are not researching the properties of it, good and bad. Actually, I haven't read, watched, or heard any "bad" happening from someone who smoked, toked, ate, or whatever their use of medicinal marijuana. I recently had an "episode" which resulted in my seeking psychiatric help. A new script for another drug and I'm good to go!! I have begun smoking weed again because, as kiki wrote, it levels me out and I am finally getting the sleep I so required. Get off your arses and become involved in the legalization of Marijuana. There are more deaths caused by alcohol, illicit drug use, and violence than with using marijuana. The risks of marijuana cut, soaked, or mixed with something, like formaldahyde are nil. The dispensaries are a bit more costly than on the street, but you get that quarter ounce, not "almost" a quarter ounce. It should be free of anything bad and you can go to any of the clubs in town, as long as you are "legal: and can be verified. It cost me more than $175 total for my legal status, but it was worth it. I would pay that much again. The drive in the mountains was beautiful, we had lunch at a little joint (no pun intended) next to the office, I had copies of all of my medical records with me to give to the doctor, spent about 10-15 minutes with her, and voila! I do think a lot of people take advantage of getting their legal status, of reselling small amounts of what they buy to others for a profit, however I think those people will get caught in the end. All it takes is one bad apple to ruin the pie for the rest of us.

As for the revenue, it would help to balance the state's budget on one hand. However, knowing a little about the states legislature, it would be a mistake to allow ANY one agency (the legislature) full control over the dispensaries. They'll just muck it up. But I do think that some of the monies from the sale of marijuana should go to help with our budget...as soon as the Legislators do THEIR JOB ON TIME! In the years of a balanced budget, the state gets a portion of the monies. No on-time budget? The state gets...NOTHING!. Perhaps that is the way to get the 'Legislators" to do their job. Yet, with term limits, you don't have a chance. Change things at the top will get you things changed at the bottom. But I digress. The thugs from our country and other countries that are involved in the illicit growth, distribution, and keeping all the profits will be out of business quick. Would that be a SUCCESS in the alleged "DRUG WAR?"

Legal Purchase and Use of Marijuana's Time Has Come! It's time "the People" get on the soapbox and begin really working for the legalization of bothe Marijuana and Hemp. Same family-different THC levels.
I don't really smoke the stuff any more but coming from the sixties i did my fair share back then. Probably for the wrong reasons but still had fun. I try to keep an open mind.
I think it is a great idea, its extra revenue that california needs big time. Why not, people are going to abuse everything no matter what it is. Their are so many benefits by legalizing it . Why the heck not?
Yes it should be legal, I have alot of friends in Corporate america who cant wait to it becomes legal.
Their's bad sides to it, a few. But as Tiki said its the Dummies not the MJ. I woud not personally smoke it.
But hay thats my choice, what a country we live in to have these kind of options open to us.
Great Topic Ed
